Cara is our Marketing and Development Coordinator. With a Bachelor of Art- a focus in graphic design and a minor in psychology, Cara had the intentions of going to grad school for art therapy or substance use disorder counseling. Those plans changed when she got off track with her own substance use. Lucky for us, after a few years in recovery Cara heard about SOS through a friend in one of her recovery circles. She has been a part of our team since September 2019. Today, Cara works for us full time and has obtained her certified recovery support worker credential. She also is a part of our 24/7 peer recovery coaching program with Wentworth Douglass Hospital and has a strong passion for it.
She likes to paint, draw, ski and lift weights (NOT cardio). She enjoys meal prepping healthy foods along with some of her moms classics: meatloaf, shrimp scampi and chicken parm. If you watch that show 90 Day Fiance, she does too so ask her about it!
“One of my favorite things about this job being trusted with my artistic eye. After college and in the midst of my drinking, I felt like a failure. I felt like I threw away all my skills and everything I had worked for. This job reminded me that I still have the talent I had before my substance use got out of hand. This feeling and drive is something I never thought I would get back. ”
