Heather is a recovery ally who lost her younger sister to substance use disorder in 2018. She watched many of the struggles over the course of 10 years her sister experienced, including difficulty obtaining work. It was these observations and personal experiences that guided her to want to become more involved in breaking the stigma of substance use disorder. She now works as a Recovery Friendly Workplace Coordinator at SOS Recovery Community Organization and is working toward completing her CRSW. She lives with her husband, and together they have two sons and her niece. She also has a wide variety of pets.
